Coalition of Secular Voters

About

Mission

The mission of the Coalition of Secular Voters is focused specifically on raising voter awareness, empowering voters with information, and raising the visibility of voters who support secular government. Voters who wish to impose their religious views on the public through the use of governing bodies have a high degree of visibility in America, as well as a mobilized and impassioned base. The goal of the Coalition of Secular Voters is to foster a passionate and mobilized base for voters who oppose such efforts, and to make sure that such voters get their voices heard and that political leaders are aware of such voters.

Non-partisan

The Coalition of Secular Voters is a non-partisan group, and welcomes participants from all political parties. Non-partisanship is critical to this issue, and critical for ensuring the responsiveness of political figures. As well as being non-partisan, the Coalition of Secular Voters does not take or support any positions on political issues other than specific issues of separation of church and state. For example, the Coalition of Secular Voters does not support either the pro-choice or the pro-life position. The Coalition of Secular Voters is not in favor of nor opposed to gun control. The Coalition of Secular Voters does not take positions in favor of nor opposed to government funding of stem-cell research. What the Coalition of Secular Voters does actively support, however, are laws and policies that are based on science, reason, and common ethics in relation to these and other matters.

Religious belief

The Coalition of Secular Voters is not an anti-religious organization, in fact the coalition depends on the involvement of religious members to be successful. The Coalition of Secular Voters is a coalition for all people who support separation of church and state, which can include everyone from the Amish to atheists. The Coalition of Secular Voters recognizes, as the Founding Fathers did, that all of our religious freedoms are protected when the wall of separation between church and state is strong.
